Abstract
This is a very large and comprehensive report. Due to time constraints, comments are focused on chapters judged as the most important. These chapters are:•3. Regional-scale conceptual model for the Ranger mine,•4. Sitewide-scale conceptual model for the Ranger mine, and•5. Conceptual models for areas of interest/concern, Sections 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, 5.8 & 5.9.
The sections not reviewed in detail are also imported and require detail review. The large data set should also be reviewed and an independent interpretation provided. In addition to these General Comment, a second document contains detail comments on a DME template. “Risk Scoring” has been attempted, but this is quite subjective and the schematic provided focuses on likelihood and consequences of an issue affecting the NT Governments reputation and not environmental impact. Most of the risk scoring does lead to environment impact likelihood and consequence.
These comments are provided by CDU for DME staff to compile with other stakeholder comments. It is requested that they are provided directly to ERA or other stakeholders apart from the exception of eriss.
In view of the Ranger Mine Closure Model workshop, 5-7 September 2016, some of the following comments may now be redundant. These comments were made without knowledge of aims of the work or discussions held at that workshop.
