    Abstract

The growing number of older adults in Australia and New Zealand makes an understanding of their health needs and problems of critical importance to all nurses who work with them, both in specialty facilities and in other health facilities and services that have a large clientele who are ageing. Health Care of the Older Adult contributes to a greater knowledge of ageing, age-related issues and healthcare problems of older adults. The role of nurses in relation to older adults health problems is highlighted throughout the book, but it also focuses on normal ageing, health promotional activities, and how governments have responded to our ageing societies. It will prove an essential textbook for nurses working in aged care or with older clients, and a useful reference book for other health professionals.
