Abstract

An all-optical photonic bandpass filter which achieves a very high-Q performance while simultaneously exhibiting low noise operation, is presented. It can generate a large number of taps without the problem of lasing thus enabling the realisation of high-resolution bandpass filtering. Experimental results for a photonic filter demonstrate a Q factor of 407, together with low noise and a stopband rejection of 50 dB.
