Abstract
The Northern Territory International Education and Training Strategy 2014-2024 provides a plan to strengthen the Territory’s position as a gateway between Australian and Asia through education. In seeking to promote the Northern Territory as a destination of choice for international students the NT International Education and Training Strategy recognises that with Australia’s fastest growing economy, the NT offers international students extensive opportunities for part-time employment and internships while studying, along with visa options for post-study work which can significantly increase the skilled workforce in the NT.
This study was funded by the NT International Education and Training Hub to better understand and articulate the employment opportunities and experiences of international students in the Northern Territory. It aimed to also engage NT employers and inform them of the opportunities and pathways to engage and retain international students as employees.
