Abstract

The Mak Mak Seasonal Calendar records the Marranunggu names for the season climate changes experienced in the south western region of the Northern Territory. The area covers Delissaville, Wagait, Larrikia Aboriginal Land Trust, Gurudju Aboriginal Land Trust, Daly River Aboriginal Land Trust, Batchelor, Litchfield National Park and Belyuen. The Marranunggu names have been identified from archival documents and oral history traditions compile by Associate Professor Linda Payi Ford funded by the New Ways for Old Ceremonies: An Archival Research Project.
