Funding Information:The Machado Joseph Disease Foundation (MJDF) won a court battle with the Federal Government over a 2013 decision to reverse the former Indigenous Affairs Minister’s $10 million grant from the Aboriginal Benefits Trust. Most sufferers of the disease are on Groote Eylandt where 624 people are at risk. The Federal Court, hearing an appeal by Minister Nigel Scullion, upheld its 2015 decision that the funding had been illegally stripped (The Australian, 4 March 2017).
