Abstract

Extraction of accurate values of optical properties of turbid samples such as suspensions or powders using radiative transfer theory is becoming an increasingly important topic in the field of spectroscopic quantitative analysis since it offers a considerable potential for improving the prediction performance i.e. the accuracy and the robustness of the quantitative analysis of turbid samples. Therefore, in this work, convergence and error of nonlinear optimisation in the inversion of the adding-doubling method for extraction of the optical properties of a sample have been analysed and the possible solutions to the convergence issues highlighted.
