Abstract
An approach to determine the J=0 and J=1 phase shifts and annihilation parameter Zeff for positron-hydrogenic ion scattering using Kohn variational method was described. The analytic expressions for the phase shift and annihilation parameters within the Coulomb wave Born approximation were derived and used to study the dynamics of positron collisions with positive ions. The annihilation parameter Zeff is computed using the wave functions obtained from the variational calculation. It was found that the values of Zeff are small and do not exceed unity for any of the momenta considered.
