Abstract

This chapter focuses on this terminology problem in presenting a review of »cultural competence« in the research literature, particularly that literature associated with intercultural understanding. This term is problematised because it can imply elitist perspectives or be interpreted too narrowly. To sharpen the focus, this problematic is situated within the context of the evolving digital environment – the medium through which teaching and learning in the twenty first century is increasingly utilised.
