Abstract

Photonic signal processing offers a new powerful paradigm for processing high bandwidth signals, overcoming inherent electronic limitations. It opens new capabilities for realising high-resolution performance and programmable operation, while being inherently compatible with fibre optic microwave systems that integrate with wireless antennas. Recent new methods in wideband signal processors including optically controlled beamforming networks, frequency converters, and microwave photonic filters that can generate high-resolution high-Q performance, are presented.
