This article aims to explore the "pedagogy-first model" of higher education teaching and learning. The article believes that before deciding which technical tools to apply to teaching, the first thing to consider is the problem of pedagogy (how we plan to teach). The article first elaborates on several different teaching methods commonly used in higher education today, and proposes how to choose different technical tools to support our chosen teaching methods from the perspective of pedagogy. The article focuses on how to create an active, collaborative and authentic learning experience, especially with the help of technical means to provide distance learners or mixed-teaching mode learners with equivalent learning opportunities (with face-to-face teaching), if not a better learning opportunity if. The article introduces some good cases to show the practical application of this teaching mode, and hope that other educators can get encouragement and inspiration from them.
