Abstract
Artwork exhibited as part of RISE 2:
Tidal shift (Risoline 01062022). Detail. Edition of four RISO prints, 240 x 21cm, was produced using found coastal mangrove wrack (leaves, naturally occurring stick bundles, pneumatophores, seeds etc) and documentation from 2020 Post Production installation (2020 micro residency at Pirrie Space with Matthew van Roden). This speculative 'Rise' incorporates anthropogenic and natural objects, addressing the accumulative act of sea levels, water born assemblages and entangled environmental stories. In focus are the coastal mangroves of the Northern Territory as they survive the new world order of microbial rafting, warming oceans and habitat loss.
RISE 2 is a curated exhibition by Cross Art Projects, featuring Northern Australian, Torres Strait Islands and Indonesian Archipelago artists Aliansyah Caniago / Fitri DK / Fiona Elisala-Mosby / Narelle Jubelin / Sarah Pirrie / Tita Salina and Irwan Ahmett / Pennyrose Wiggins / Muhammad 'Ucup' Yusuf
