Abstract
This study examines the academic experiences of using Microsoft Flip, a secure and engaging video blogging tool, among Australian university students and staff. Despite extensive research on student perceptions, there is limited understanding of how academics perceive and adopt the platform in higher education. The research aims to fill this gap by investigating the experiences of ten academics who used Flip in various languages, formats, curriculums, and contexts. They provided valuable insights on effective utilization, highlighting the importance of proper setup, peer interaction and assessment, follow-up, and modeling for students. They also recommended using Flip as a complementary tool, such as for introductions and peer feedback. Future research should explore implementing these suggestions in different classroom settings to enhance the tool's effectiveness.
