Abstract

Like other high-income countries, Australia has an ageing population, with about 3.8 million Australians aged 65 and over representing 15% of the population (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, Older Australians at a glance. AIHW, Canberra, 2018). Older Australian people have a range of heritages, with First Nations peoples the proud custodians of the oldest living continuous culture in the world.
