    Abstract

The Tiwi Islands Workforce Profile has been compiled as part of the much broader Cooperative Research Centre for Developing Northern Australia (CRC NA) project titled ‘Maximising northern tropical forestry - linking communities and cutting-edge technology’ (https://crcna.com.au/research/projects/maximising-northern-tropical-forestry-linking-communities-and-cutting-edge-technology). The broader project brings together research expertise from the University of Melbourne, the Northern Territory Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade and Charles Darwin University, commercial expertise of Australia’s largest forest product exporter Midway Limited, through the wholly owned subsidiary, Plantation Management Partners Pty Ltd, the forestry research and development corporation, Forest and Wood Products Australia, community development specialists Mark Ashley Associates Pty Ltd, and Indigenous people - Tiwi Plantations Corporation, Port Melville and other emerging Indigenous businesses to develop a Northern Forestry Industry Growth model.
