    Abstract

A simple and effective technique to realise optical single sideband modulation in a very wide RF/microwave frequency range is presented. It uses low-cost off-the-shelf components to realise single sideband modulation with a large sideband suppression ratio. Experimental results demonstrate single sideband modulation with more than 30 dB unwanted sideband suppression in a wide 2-40 GHz frequency range.
