There is an indisputable trend towards deregulated and liberalised telecom markets which is welcomed by almost every individual and corporation. The rapid growth in telecommunication is fuelled by several interacting factors.Telecommunication has an unquestionably important role in the development of societies. It brings many benefits with few negative effects. The availability of a well developed telecommunications infrastructure offering quality services atreasonable prices is a key requisite for economic development. The case for deregulation is based on the realisation that communication sector is a vital engine of development and economic growth in other sectors of Indian economy. A limitation on growth in many country has been the lack of capital. Byencouraging competition and opening up for private ownership, telecommunication operation become attractive business opportunities for capital investors.
